Allerton Road closed as emergency services attend to man on roof

Allerton Road was closed this evening after reports of a man on the roof of a property’s bay window.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were at the scene on the main road in Allerton while the incident was being dealt with.

This led to the road being closed, with a number of witnesses reporting a large scene of emergency services near the GoLocal store near the junction with Hillside Road.

At around 8:20 p.m., police received a report that the man was on the roof of a bay window on the first floor.

They closed the road to deal with the incident and a police spokesman said the man was “cooperating fully”.

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: ‘Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to Allerton Road on Thursday February 17 following concerns for the safety of a individual.

“The crews were alerted shortly before 8:30 p.m. Two fire engines were present as well as the search and rescue team and an aerial apparatus.

“Firefighters liaised with police at the scene. One person was examined at the scene by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.

“Firefighters left the scene at 9.51pm and handed over the incident to Merseyside Police.”
