Chris Evans and his wife have finally made their red-carpet debut.
The Captain America star and fellow actor Alba Baptista made it official in September 2023 by saying “I do” in a secret Massachusetts ceremony. This didn’t come as a huge surprise to many fans, as Evans had said in November 2022 interview that he hoped to start a family one day with the right person.
“That’s absolutely something I want,” he told People. “Wife, kids, building a family. When you read about most of the best artists, whether it’s actors, painters, writers, most of them [admit] it wasn’t the work they made [that they are most proud of], it was about the relationships, the families they created, the love they found, the love they shared. So it’s also something through my long 41 years that also rings true. Those things are the most important. I love the idea of tradition and ceremony, I had a lot of that in my life so the idea of creating that, I can’t think of anything better.”
Almost six months after getting married, Evans and Baptista appeared together on the red carpet for the first time, at Vanity Fair’s 2024 Oscars after-party. Ahead, see everything we know about the Avengers star’s wife.
She’s an actress best known for her role on Netflix’s Warrior Nun.
In her English-language debut, Baptista, 26, stars as protagonist Ava Silva in the Netflix fantasy drama, which is about an orphan who “possesses superpowers” and joins a “secret sect of demon-hunting nuns,” according to the streaming platform’s logline. In December 2022, Netflix canceled the show after two seasons, but it was recently announced that Warrior Nun will return as a movie trilogy.
“Apart from it being an action and fantasy show, it’s a plot about female empowerment,” Baptista said of the show in an interview with Fade to Her in 2021. “How girls, women, are stronger together. I’m proud of representing this mentality alongside my amazing cast members.”
Baptista also plays Natasha in the 2022 historical dramedy Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris. She previously worked on Portuguese shows like A Criação, A Impostora, and Jogo Duplo.
She is Portuguese and Brazilian.
The Portuguese-Brazilian actress was born in Lisbon, Portugal, where she spent most of her life. She opened up about the different expectations for actors in her hometown versus in Hollywood.
“Publicity is not really a thing in Portugal,” she told W magazine in a 2022 interview. “I thought I knew what press was, especially from looking at interviews with these big stars online. But once you’re in it, it’s a completely different experience—10-minute interviews constantly, for days and days.”

Baptista attended a German school in Portugal that helped build up her fluency in five languages, including English, German, French, and Spanish.
“It was a really strict school that gave us a lot of discipline,” she explained to W. “And consequently, you had to be spotless with your languages—very, very on point.”
Her relationship with Chris got “serious” after one year of dating.
In November 2022, People reported that Baptista and Evans were an item. At that point, the two had been dating “for over a year and [it was] serious,” per an insider. “They are in love and Chris has never been happier. His family and friends all adore her.”
Another source for Us Weekly affirmed in January 2023 that Evans and Baptista’s relationship had reached the next level.
“Chris and Alba have gotten serious,” the insider said. “This is the most committed anyone can remember him being in a very long time, if not ever.”
The source added, “They spend most of their time at his place in Massachusetts and love the quiet life there, surrounded by nature and away from the spotlight. Chris was very open that he wanted to take his time before settling down.”
They had a super private wedding at their Boston-area home.

A source for the outlet added that the “beautiful” event was “locked down tight,” with guests signing NDAs and forfeiting their phones. The actors reportedly invited some of their closest family and friends—including Evans’s Marvel costars Robery Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner.
