Coast Guard searches for missing swimmer near Edgewater Park

CLEVELAND – The United States Coast Guard is looking for a missing swimmer who went underwater near Edgewater Park on Friday and has not resurfaced.

At approximately 4:55 p.m., the Coast Guard received a report from EMS that two people had been seen swimming near Edgewater Park and one of the swimmers had returned to shore, but another had been seen swimming near Edgewater Park. to sink and not to resurface.

The Coast Guard launched the lifeboat from Cleveland Harbor station and a helicopter was called from Detroit station to help with the search.

A technical rescue team with the Cleveland Fire Department is on the rapid response boat search and crews are also using sonar equipment in the search.

EMS said no one has been transported yet and crews remain at the scene.
