Emergency services rush to late fire in Scottish flats as residents are evacuated

Emergency services rushed to a fire in a set of Scottish flats this evening.

Fire crews rushed to Bellfield Court in Musselburgh after the alarm was raised at around 8.45pm on Wednesday April 20.

Residents were evacuated to the streets after the fire broke out as firefighters took to the streets.

Mercy crews were still on scene battling the flames late Wednesday evening.

It is understood that officers from the Scottish police as well as paramedics are also present.

A local said Edinburgh live : “It looked pretty big, I hope everyone did well.

“I could see a large group of people standing outside so it looked like everyone had gotten out safely.

“You could see him a bit on the stairs, but the fire department arrived pretty quickly.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said no injuries were reported following the incident.

They added: “We received a call at 8.43pm on Wednesday April 20 for a house fire at Bellfield Court.

“Three aircraft were dispatched to the scene.

“We remain present for the time being.”
