EMERGENCY services were called to eight separate incidents in and around Bidston Hill last week.
In one week from August 30, the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service reported eight incidents involving fires set in grassland and gorse.
Since the spate of fires, Merseyside Police said they have stepped up patrols in the area.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: “Officers are patrolling Bidston Hill on foot.
“We have had recent reports of fires being started in grasslands and illegal use of scrambler bikes.
“Please report any issues to us via 101 or 999 in an emergency.”

Aug 30, 2022 – Trail adjacent to Vyner Road South, Bidston
At around 2.41pm Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended a scene where an area of gorse approximately 20 x 20 meters was found smoldering.
Fire crews cushioned with paclider (pump water tank strapped to the firefighter’s back like a backpack),
Firefighters left the scene at 3:13 p.m., no cause was recorded.
On the same day at around 8.31pm at Bidston Court Gardens, Bidston crews found 10 square meters of gorse on fire.
The fire was extinguished with hose reel jets and a fire truck rushed to the scene.
The teams left the scene at 8:46 p.m. and no cause was registered.
August 31, 2022 – Bidston Hill, Boundary Road
At 1:36 p.m. MFRS were called to a 60 square meter fire of burning ferns and trees near the observatory.
Crews extinguished with a hose reel jet and a fire truck rushed to the scene.
They left the scene at 2:38 p.m. and no cause was registered.
On the same day, crews witnessed a bushfire at 8:25 p.m. on Vyner Road South.
Upon arrival, firefighters found burning bushes and trees.
They extinguished the fire with a hose reel spray using a fire truck.
The crews left the scene at 8:44 p.m., with no trace of any cause.
September 2, 2022 – Vyner Road South, Bidston
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were alerted at 7.56am to a fire involving 5 by 5 meters of undergrowth and gorse.
Crews and a fire truck responded to extinguish the blaze with a hose reel jet.
They left the scene at 8:17 a.m., with no cause.
That same evening at around 6.25pm, firefighters attended a grass fire on the Windermere Road footpath leading to Vyner Road South.
The fire measured about 2x2m but was extinguished on arrival.
The crews left the scene at 6:55 p.m., with no trace of a cause.
September 3, 2022 – Upton Road, Bidston
Crews were alerted at 8:18 p.m. to a small pile of grass on fire which was eradicated by firefighters.
A fire truck present left the scene at 8:34 p.m. No case file.
September 4, 2022 – Tam O’Shanters Urban Farm Parking Lot, Boundary Road
At around 8.45am, the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to a small, smoldering campfire.
The fire was extinguished with buckets and a paclider (pump-operated water tank strapped to the firefighter’s back like a backpack).
A fire truck was present and left the scene at 9:08 a.m.
