Firefighters tackle restaurant blaze in Harlow – latest updates

Essex firefighters tackle a fire at a two storey restaurant in Fore Street, Harlow this morning. The Essex County Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident on Twitter at 5.45am.

The fire department said the premises, which measure about 10 meters by 20 meters, were 25% lit and completely smoky when crews arrived. The fire itself broke out in the attic.

Crews divided the area into sectors to allow them to surround the fire and secure the scene as quickly as possible, the brigade added.

James Taylor, Group Manager at Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, said: “I would like to thank our teams for their quick response to begin to handle this incident quickly and professionally under difficult conditions.

“At this time we are working hard to get the fire under control – so for safety reasons many nearby roads will be closed this morning. We will likely be here for some time securing the scene before completing an investigation into the fire. fire to understand the cause of the fire.
