Just Us Cat and Kitten Rescue is looking for donations

Just Us Cat and Kitten Rescue is asking for monetary donations from community members.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been tough on everyone, even furry friends. Just Us Cat and Kitten Rescue was established as a non-profit organization in 2006 to serve the communities of East Sussex by managing the communities of cats and kittens, both domestic and wild.

With traditional fundraising efforts still impossible due to growing concerns over COVID, Just Us organizers are looking to the community for help in providing donations to keep its mission alive.

The all-voluntary organization provides services, including rescue; to favor; and entrap, sterilize, sterilize and return; as well as low cost vaccination clinics. The volunteers also socialize and feed the wild colonies. The costs of food, preparation for kittens and visit to the veterinarian are provided to foster families if necessary; veterinary visits are organized if necessary.

Keys to Just Us’ work are its alliances with the Brandywine Valley SPCA, local pet stores, and a large no-kill refuge in Maryland that welcomes adoptable cats and kittens. Just Us also works with many other nonprofit rescue groups in and outside of Sussex County, as feline friends know no geographic boundaries.

Since the start of the pandemic, Just Us has organized hundreds of sterilizations and sterilizations; many of them were free for the owner of the animal or the keeper of the colony and always free of charge for the host family.

As a non-profit relief group, Just Us relies on donations of all kinds, including food, trash, and bedding; at present it is most in need of monetary support.

This year, members of the rescue team have observed an increase in the number of feral cats and kittens in East Sussex County. In addition to financial assistance, the rescue needs volunteers ready to trap the cats and kittens in the community. Traps and training will be provided. Assistance with transporting the traps to the Brandywine SPCA in Georgetown can be arranged.
