Nigeria will recover under my husband

Peoples’ Democratic Party presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has pledged to give 40% of his ministerial positions to women and youth if elected in the 2023 elections.

While stressing the importance of women and youth in national development, he expressed concern about the high cost of living in Nigeria, blaming it on the failure of the All Progressives Congress federal government to effectively manage the country’s economy.

Atiku, represented by a former chairman of the Senate Committee in the Federal Capital Territory and spokesman for his campaign organization, Dino Melaye, expressed his views during the inauguration of the Atiku-Okowa Vanguard Nigeria on Saturday in Abuja.

At the event, the presidential candidate’s wife, Titi Abubakar, appealed to Nigerian women and youth for their support, saying her husband was well prepared to save the nation and bring it back to normal.

“If my husband is elected, I will do more for Nigerian children and women. Atiku has promised women and young people 40% in the cabinet, he is a man of his word and he will do it, but only you can do it.

“I appeal to you, our women and youth, do not sell your conscience and your future, but rather, stand up for the right thing and your future will be brighter as Atiku will bring back the lost glory of Nigeria,” she said. .

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including the wife of a former President of the Senate, Ms. Helen Mark, and Director of Support Groups Atiku Campaign Organisation, Hon. Fabiyi Oladimeji.

“Without women and youth, there is no nation and part of my policy is to fill my nominations and empowerments with minimum 40% youth and women.

“While the women are asking for 35%, Atiku is offering 40% and let me assure you that this will be implemented no later than when we get on board.

“I used to fly economy class from Abuja to Lagos for N18,000 but now over N100,000 we used to buy bread for N120 and now N1200 we had the used to buy diesel at N150 per litre, but now it’s N800 per litre, the dollar was once traded to N210 and now N700 and rising.

“We cannot go on like this as a nation; save Nigeria by electing Atiku Abubakar. You know that no Nigerian can accuse Atiku of being a tribalist or a religious bigot.

“Nigeria is looking for a healer, not a patient; so let’s go house to house, door to door and campaign for Atiku and Okowa to save this country.

“Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi and others are ready to be president, but Atiku Abubakar is sufficiently prepared for the task of saving, uniting and rebuilding the nation.

“Obi is a future president, his future is bright and age is on his side, but we need a father figure who can unite the country,” Melaye said.

Speaker of the occasion and former Senate Speaker, Senator Anyim Anyim, represented by Ebonyi State PDP gubernatorial candidate Obinna Ogba, said political awareness had intensified with the advent of social media.

Anyim praised Atiku-Okowa Vanguard Nigeria for its efforts in marketing the party.

According to him, PDP had the best presidential candidate in the country and urged the group to step up its efforts to market Atiku to Nigerians.

The keynote speaker for the event and National Secretary of the PDP, Samuel Anyanwu said, “The presence here today is a clear testimony that our presidential candidate is very popular and accepted by the majority of Nigerians.

“Nigerians look to the PDP for an immediate rescue from the lackluster leadership of the All Progressives Congress.

“This group is therefore a welcome effort in our quest to save and rebuild Nigeria from the misrule of the APC.

“The country is in a paralyzed state awaiting immediate rescue as all facets of the economy have become dysfunctional and are placing the country in imminent collapse.

“Today, very few Nigerians can afford three full meals with unprecedented unemployment and poverty rates making the country the poverty capital of the world.

“No nation can survive the current circumstances of insecurity, banditry and terrorism, which is why the Atiku-Okowa Vanguard must engage in a mass mobilization effort if we want our country to change,” said said Anyanwu.

Welcoming the guests earlier, the national president of the group, the Hon. Oby Nwaogu said the group debuted in 2018 and was revalidated in 2022 to educate and inform Nigerians about the excellent leadership qualities of Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

She described Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as detribalized Nigerians and highly experienced leaders needed by Nigerians to save the nation from hardship and underdevelopment wrought by the APC.
