RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Crews from Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) and the Richmond Fire Department used a boat to rescue a malamute who ended up at the bottom of a 50-foot embankment along of the James River.

According to a Facebook post from the RACC, the dog fell or descended the embankment 50 feet, and the only way to access it was by water.

RACC called the Richmond Fire Department’s water rescue team, who responded within minutes with a small boat and rescued the dog, who was unharmed.

The dog was brought back to the RACC, where he was reunited with his owner.
