Rescue workers rescue two kayakers in difficulty on the Lune River


Emergency services were called when two kayakers found themselves in difficulty in the water of the Moon River.

The incident took place last weekend and prompted a huge response from emergency services.

The Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, Lancashire Police, North West Ambulance Service and the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team witnessed the incident near Lancaster.

The teams worked together and managed to rescue both people.

They were brought safely to earth.

A spokesperson for the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘Last weekend two kayakers struggled on the Moon River near Lancaster.

“A multi-agency water rescue effort has been launched.

“The firefighters worked in tandem with Lancashire Police, the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust and the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team (BPMRT) to successfully rescue the two people.

“A fantastic team effort with a positive result.”
