Scott Edwin Mason, 59, died suddenly on October 1, 2022, at his home. He was born on April 11, 1963 in Marshalltown, the son of Maurice E. and Sandra G. (McLeland) Mason.

Scott brought his love of all things beautiful and historic to many. In addition to his contributions to the beautification of friends’ homes, he was in high demand for creating stunning holiday decor throughout the community. He was a long-time active friend, volunteer and board member of the Marshall County Historical Society, Binford House Board of Trustees, and leader of the Early American Glass Club. All of these groups have benefited from programs he has given, contributions of objects, hands-on renovation projects, and fundraising efforts. Scott was generous with his vast knowledge of local history, antiques, artifacts and architecture. His legacy lives on in evidence of his vision and expertise that continue to be appreciated at Binford House, Historic Glick-Sower House and Mowry Irvine Mansion, not to mention countless private residences. In 2016 Scott began a partnership with The Brass Armadillo in Des Moines, he was an incredibly successful seller and an asset to the collectors and antiques community. He treasured his relationships with staff, fellow vendors and customers. He made loving friendships with amazing people and gave generously to charities and causes that people in his life were passionate about.

Surviving in addition to her mother, Sandra, is her sister Amy (Mason) and her husband Tim Rowell, of Long Beach, CA.

A celebration of life will be held in memory of Scott on a date to be determined.
