Emergency services were at the scene of a “major” incident at the Premier Inn in Sunbury.
The hotel was evacuated after chemicals were found in a room with a dead man.
Police, fire and ambulance teams were at the scene at the hotel on Staines Road, on the border between Surrey and West London.
A police spokesperson said: ‘We were called to the Premier Inn on Staines Road in Sunbury at around 3:25 pm this afternoon (October 28) following reports of a man found dead in a bedroom hotel.
“Police, South East Coast Ambulance Services and Surrey Fire and Rescue Services attended and a cordon was put in place.
“Following a search of the room, chemicals were found and the hotel was evacuated as a precaution.
“We are currently working with other agencies to identify the substance, but we do not believe there is any risk to the general public.
“Relatives of the man have been notified. The death is currently being treated as unexplained while investigations are taking place, however, we are not currently looking for anyone else in this investigation.”
