The Donegal Mountain Rescue Team were busy again this evening after receiving a call at Errigal Mountain after lights were spotted at the back of the hill.
Fortunately, the walkers in question found the right path and, with the help of the mountain rescue team, made it back safely.
In a message, DMRT said:
“This evening at 6.43pm the team was assigned to Errigal mountain where a light had been spotted at the back of the hill. The team was put on hold as a rushed team made their way to the Mountain.
“The walkers involved had climbed the mountain but got lost and ended up on the back of the mountain. They however found their way to the path and, with the help of the team, returned safely to their vehicle.
The team retired at 8:48 p.m.
“Nights are getting closer and darkness is falling very quickly at this time of year. No matter where you are hiking, always be aware of the route you are taking to reduce the risk of taking the wrong path or a route that is not safe.
“Always bring a torch/headlamp and as always make sure you have the proper clothing for your hike, as well as plenty of food and water and a fully charged cell phone.
“If you are going to be hiking late in the evening it is good to alert your local Garda station and/or your local mountain rescue so they are aware of your movements.”
