Tributes pour in for ‘cheerful and bubbly’ woman after deadly flat fire

Tributes are pouring in for a ‘bubbly’ young woman following a deadly fire in Angus.

We recounted how a fire ripped through a four in a block on South Street, Forfar on Saturday afternoon.

Police have confirmed that the body of a 28-year-old woman was unfortunately found inside the apartment. She was locally named Pauline Mcphail as tributes to her have since flooded social media.

“Devastated” relatives hailed Pauline as “joyful and sparkling” and as someone who “will never be forgotten”.

One of them wrote: “You are one of the best people I have ever known, you were awesome in your own way and always cheerful and bubbly and even when the going got tough you got away with it and still found it. a new path.

“We will truly miss you and it will never be the same again.

“RIP Pauline Mcphail. GBNF our hearts are completely broken.”

Another added: “Pauline Mcphail, you will never be forgotten.”

A third wrote: “I can’t believe you are gone, Pauline Mcphail.

“I miss you so much, I can’t believe I lost a good boyfriend.

“I am shocked, devastated and at a loss for words.”

Emergency teams rushed to the scene around 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 2.

Police told the Record that the woman’s next of kin knew about it. No other casualties were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, however, an investigation is currently underway and a report will be submitted to the Tax Prosecutor.

A Scottish police spokesperson told The Record: “At approximately 3:05 pm on Saturday 2 September, police were called to report a fire at a property on South Street in Forfar.

“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) responded and extinguished the blaze, but unfortunately the body of a 28-year-old woman was found on the property.

“His relatives have been made aware.

“A joint fire investigation is underway with SFRS and a report will be provided to the finance attorney in due course.”

Three fire apparatuses were dispatched to extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters have since left the scene as the investigation begins.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson told the Record: ‘We were alerted to a fire report at 2:51 pm on Saturday 2 October at a four-block apartment building in South Street, Forfar.

“Three devices were immediately mobilized to the scene and the fire was extinguished.

“The crews have now left the scene.”
