At around 1.15pm, law enforcement said they were looking for a wanted man, 45, at a Scottish inn in the 15700 block of Kuykendhal Road.
A deputy was inside the lobby doing investigative work when the suspect entered the lobby, according to HCSO.
Two deputies from the HCSO task force learned he had arrived and headed for the building, officials said.
As deputies approached the sliding doors, they said the suspect began to recover and raise a pistol.
The two deputies opened fire through the glass doors, hitting the suspect at least twice.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
Records show the suspect was wanted on five possible counts, including a dangerous drug parole violation, three open federal arrest warrants and possession of a weapon.
Authorities told ABC13 the suspect had multiple rooms at the motel over the past few weeks. They said he was accompanied by an unknown woman who was not present during the shooting.
